lonja de valencia

Valencia’s Silk Exchange, a building recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, is an architectural jewel. In order to promote it, the local authorities commissioned a publication that stresses its cultural values and which, at the same time, is a pleasure to the eye.
In this book, we mix the resources and rules of classical book layout with new composition concepts. The publication as a whole tries to convey the air of sophistication that surrounds La Lonja, and the aesthetics of the historical time when it was built, through an up-to-date, rigorous outlook. The engraving of the cover is based on the design of a 15th –16th century velvet silk owned by Victoria Liceras, a collector of antique fabrics. The photography is by Joaquín Bérchez, an Art History professor who, together with Mercedes Gómez-Ferrer, is also responsible for the text.
